Sulphur is a well known mineral which is often found in numerous shades of yellow with various lustres from pearly to dull. However, it is most well known to many for its pungent odour. Sulphur forms due to natural hydro-thermal activity, as such, it is often found around hot springs or volcanic areas, historically being called ‘brimstone’. It can form as massive beds or crystals but will often always be some shade of yellow. These samples exhibit crystal masses on a massive matrix, they exhibit a pearly lustre and come from Baja, California, USA and are ideal for more serious collectors, they are mounted on to polystyrene and inserted into card trays with details typed onto them, ideal more if you enjoy displaying your collection in some way.

Fluorite octahedron crystals from southern Illinois, USA. These mineral specimens are around 7 – 15 mm in size and available in three colours, clear, blue or purple and all are translucent, allowing some light through, giving them a gem quality colour and appearance. These octahedron crystals, while genuine fluorite have been cleaved into these shapes, a practice which has been practiced from some 200 years and still continues to this day with fluorite crystals from China. Due to the small size, these samples will come supplied in a x4 magnifier box.

These geodes are often referred to as La Choya geodes or coconut geodes, the quartz crystals within them may be clear or smoky and are often accompanied by brown calcite and agate. Orange calcite mineral specimens from Mexico, exhibiting a rich orange colour and crystalline texture, this soft mineral hovers at 3 on the Mohs scale of hardness. The colouration is due to the inclusion of hematite, an iron mineral (well known for being deep red) which in certain quantities, will give calcite the orange appearance.
