Thulite is an eye catching rose pink mineral, these particular specimens were collected by staff from Lom in central Norway and are in a massive form with a fine crystal texture. The pink colouration is due to the presence of manganese bearing zeosite, small occurrences of white calcite may also be seen. It was initially discovered in Sauland in Telemark, Norway in 1820 and is named after the mythical island of Thule in the belief that the island is Scandinavia. It has also historically been used as a gemstone due to its colour and the fact that it can take a high polish. These samples exhibit an excellent colour and purity, they are available in various sizes and come supplied in a card tray with an information label.
