Tufa with Magnolia Leaves
Specimens of Tufa showing the imprint of Magnolia leaves from Italy. These rather unusual pieces are supplied in a white card tray with an information label.
Tufa is a variety of limestone that has been precipitated under ambient conditions from carbonate rich water bodies. In this case Magnolia leaves have become progressively coated in calcium carbonate CaCO3. The outline & veins of the leaves can clearly be seen in freshly broken pieces. These unusual little oddities were collected in Italy. Each specimen is supplied in a labelled card tray.
