A new purpose made, small, handy ultraviolet lamp for use on fluorescent minerals, ideal for observing them under a whole new light! Observations of minerals can at times become bland and boring, especially when the minerals being observed are bland and colourless. However, place them in a dark room and shine a UV light over them and you will see mineral specimens shining in a variety of bright and vibrant, luminous colours, including greens, orange, red, yellow and much more. Our new UV lamp comes with both a shortwave light and long wave light. The shortwave light is in the form a cylindrical bulb emitting at 254 nm. This bulb is built within the lamp and can (when needed) be changed for a newer one. The long wave bulb is in the form of a 4 milliwatt LED emitting UV at 380 nm. We have had the shortwave bulb powered to 4 watts to ensure that minerals fluoresce better than most other small sized lamps such as those lamps used in money detection etc. The lamp comes with a wrist strap for securing to your arm when in use to prevent falling and the shortwave bulb is also filtered. However, caution should be taken, UV light can be harmful, it is suggested that covering your hands, and not looking directly into the light is done to avoid exposure to UV rays. The lamp measures 16 x 5 x 2 cm in size and requires 4 AA batteries to operate (not included)
Always wear eye protection when dealing with UV light and radiation, do not look directly into the UV lights. Do not point the lamp directly to any other persons face or your own.
NOTE: Images of the minerals were actually taken using the same lamp.

A small replacement bulb for our ultraviolet UV lamps. The bulb is a replacement for the shortwave cylindrical bulb at the front of the lamp and emits UV at 254nm.

nPlease note, these bulbs are powered up 4 watt bulbs, and have been made alongside our UV lamps to work with them. We cannot accept returns if you attempt to use the bulb in a UV product which you did not purchase from us.

Glass tiles for determining a minerals place on the Mohs scale, scratched from hardness 6 and up. The tiles measure 50 x 50 x 3 mm and weighs approximately 27 grams.
An off white coloured streak plate made form porcelain, they are used by field geologists and students as a means of performing streak tests on minerals. This test simply involves one, scratching the surface of the tile with a particular rock or mineral, the coloured streak left behind then assists the user in determining the mineral, or minerals within a rock sample.
The Geologist’s Pendulum Pencil Magnet serves as an excellent tool for conducting tests and determining magnetism in specimens. Crafted in the form of a pencil, complete with a pocket clip and a Neodymium Magnet tip, this device is designed to streamline the process.
Featuring a Stainless Steel spring wire clip positioned at the center, the “pencil” pivots around this central holder when the magnet is gripped or a line is attached to the pivot clip.
During the examination of a Core Sample, the Neodymium Magnet at the tip is drawn toward magnetic minerals within a rock specimen when brought into proximity, facilitating efficient analysis. The body is crafted from bright orange nylon, making it highly visible. Additionally, due to the lighter weight of the body compared to the steel magnetic pens (which can be found HERE), this makes even small instances of magnetic attraction observable. This pencil magnet measures 13 cm in length, and discounts are available for bulk purchases.
Streak plates in a black colour made form porcelain, tough and ideal for performing streak tests, to asses minerals or mineral content of a rock sample, each plate is 45 x 45 mm in size and has a fine texture surface. Excellent for field geologists and earth science students.
An ideal tool for hardness testing during geological fieldwork, the steel-tipped scriber features a genuine steel point, making it well-suited for assessing minerals up to 5 on the Mohs hardness scale. The pointed tip can be easily retracted and reversed, ensuring safety during storage in your rucksack, pockets, or other compartments. With knurling along its body, it offers an excellent grip, while a clip on the opposite end allows for convenient attachment to shirt pockets, notebook edges, and more. Manufactured in the USA with American steel, this scriber weighs a mere 12 grams.
Clear plastic acid bottles with a dropper lid and screw on cap, made from durable plastic, the bottle can carry hydrochloric acid for you to use in the lab or field, allowing you to determine calcium carbonate rocks such as calcites or limestones. The bottles hold 25 ml of liquid and are clear.

A tungsten carbide scriber for geophysical testing of minerals, performing scratch tests in the field according to the Mohs scale of hardness. Tungsten carbide is at 9 on the mohs scale of hardness and so this scriber is more suitable for harder minerals. Knurling along the body gives users extra grip and the built in magnet will allow for magnetic testing of iron bearing material. The tip is reversible for safe storage and a pocket clip allows for placing in your shirt pocket or along a notebook.
