Witherite mineral samples which were collected many years ago from the Settlingstones Mine, Fourstones, Tyne Valley, Northumberland. These particular samples are a milky white to pale yellow colour and show typical fibrous crystal habit expected from Witherite. The mineral is named after William Withering, an English physician & naturalist who discovered the mineral and also proved it to be a different mineral to Baryte. Samples are supplied in a white card with an information label.
