Specimens of zoisite with pargasite from Mundarara Mine, Arusha Region, Tanzania. Zoisite is a calcium aluminium hydroxy sorosilicate, it was originally named saualpite for Saualpe, Austria where it occurs in eclogites. Zoisite is usually found in massive form though it can occur as orthorhombic crystals, It has a vitreous lustre and a conchoidal to irregular fracture. These samples display massive green zoisite occurring with black pargasite, some pieces may even show small inclusions of ruby corundum which would then classify the sample as anyolite. Specimens are supplied in a white card tray with an information label and are a must have for any mineral collection.
