Garnet Peridotite slide, where olivine and pyroxene captivate in XPL view, while almandine garnets are intertwined throughout. Peridotite, an ultramafic igneous rock known for its density and coarse-grained texture, predominantly comprises olivine and pyroxene. These slides actively complement hand specimens and facilitate the interpretation of the rock’s crystallization history.

Peridotite originates from the Earth’s mantle, either as blocks and fragments or through the crystallization of magma generated in the mantle. Our team collected this remarkable material from Aheim, Western Norway, estimated to have formed approximately 450-400 million years ago. Each section is 30 microns thick and meticulously mounted on a 46 x 27 mm glass slide. To ensure convenient microscopy, we supply each garnet peridotite slide in protective card sleeves with labeled covers.

Click here to to explore our extensive collection of igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic, and mineral thin sections. We offer a wide range of options to cater to your needs. If you require a microscope, you can find them available here as well.
