Stunning peridotite thin section exhibiting the bright and beautiful colours of olivine and pyroxene punctuated by relatively abundant plagioclase. Peridotite is a dense, coarse grained, ultramafic igneous rock consisting largely of olivine and pyroxene.
Peridotite slide, showcasing the prominent presence of olivine and pyroxene, punctuated by relatively abundant plagioclase. Peridotite, a dense and coarse-grained ultramafic igneous rock, consists primarily of olivine and pyroxene. These slides serve as excellent supplements to hand specimens, providing valuable insights into the rock’s crystallization history.
Peridotite derives from the Earth’s mantle, either as blocks and fragments or through crystallization from mantle-generated magma. We personally collected this material from Finland, ensuring its authenticity and quality. Each peridotite slide undergoes meticulous crafting, resulting in a precise thickness of 30 microns. They are carefully mounted on a 46 x 27 mm glass slide and supplied in a protective card sleeve with a labeled cover, perfectly suited for microscopy enthusiasts.
