Neptunia Contraria, an unusual Gastropod because unlike the majority, this one coiled it’s shell to the left. Hence the name Contraria. The name for this type of coiling is sinistral. Each specimen is supplied in a 3″x2″ white card tray.
Pumice specimens from the Lipari islands, Italy. Pumice is an igneous rock with a highly porous structure resulting from trapped gas bubbles as the lava was being ejected. The rock is usually very light & buoyant in water. Specimens are supplied in a card tray with label.
We also supply Pumice thin sections for microscope study which are available to buy HERE.

Bouguetia saemanni, Large specimens around 3″ in size, some tips are not complete.
Snowflake obsidian is quite striking in appearance. It is characterised by the inclusion of radially clustered crystals of cristobalite, which when viewed at a glance, appear like snowflakes on the surface of the rock. These crystal clusters are set in an otherwise black vitreous matrix of obsidian, which is an naturally occurring volcanic glass, even exhibiting a conchoidal fracture. Cristobalite is a high temperature polymorph of silica, it can form as a result of the devitrification of the obsidian. These specimens come from Java, Indonesia and are supplied in card trays, sizes which are optional, each tray also has a small data label supplied.
We also supply Snowflake Obsidian thin sections for microscope study which are available to buy HERE.
Accretionary lapilli tuff is an igneous pyroclastic rock, these samples come from Longsleddle, Cumbria in the UK and forms when hot ash and debris is ejected from as volcano. Some of this material is held together by moisture and once heavy enough, falls into the ash below forming small ‘spots’ within the material, creating a speckled rock. The samples are suitable both for young and serious collectors as well as educational use and are supplied in various sizes with a card tray and label.

Rhyolite specimens found in Cumbria. Rhyolite is a felsic (silica rich) rock, often formed in highly explosive volcanoes. Specimens are supplied in a card tray with label.
We also supply Rhyolite thin sections for microscope study which are available to buy HERE.

Syenite thin section slide. The thin sections show a dominant feldspar mass ( orthoclase ) with occurrences of hornblende, amphibole and clinopyroxene. Biotite mica may also be present however its occurrence is rare, The thin section is supplied in a protective card sleeve with a label, ideal for microscopy and educational purposes.

• Geological Age: Late Devonian period, 372 – 358 million years old
• Location: Alnif, Morocco
• Species: Various species.
Various goniatite fossil specimens from Alnif, Morocco, supplied by weight with various options available, these hematite stained red fossils show clear suture lines, chambers and coils, they are supplied in whole and partial pieces varying between 10 to 15 mm in size. Dated to the late Devonian period, 372.2 million years ago to 358.9 million years ago these fossils were found in what is now Alnif, Morocco, an area more known for it’s dessert and heat. However, during the late Devonian period, this area was submerged, being a marine environment, in which these various species of goniatites as well as other marine dwelling fauna lived.

Metagabbro specimens from Lom, Central Norway. Also known as scapolite-hornblende due to the absence of feldspar in the rock are available in 3 optional sizes and come supplied in a card tray with a data label.

Pumice thin section slide exhibiting the highly vesicular nature of this extrusive igneous rock. Pumice lavas tend to be silicic or felsic which are highly viscous thus do not allow the gas bubbles to escape efficiently. This material was collected from the Lipari islands of Italy.

Excellent examples of bivalve fossil specimens which show the shells have been agatised, giving them an orange almost semi transparent colour and vitreous lustre, the morphology of the shells have been preserved very well as agate weather or deteriorates almost not at all as opposed to other minerals at the surface. The shells are between 20 to 40 mm in size and come from Morocco, unfortunately, for the time being, we do not have much more information regarding them such as specific species or age. But the unique agatisation of the samples makes them much more interesting to observe. Supplied in lots of 5 pieces, they come packaged in a polythene bag with information label.
Larvikite is an igneous plutonic rock and variant of monzonite from Larvik, Norway, due to its chemistry, it is composed mainly of orthoclase, albite and anorthite along with plagioclase which gives the rock a blue to silver shimmering effect. The igneous pluton formed during the Permian period, 292 – 298 million years ago during the the Variscan orogeny. A beautiful rock to observe due to its coarse crystalline texture and schiller effect, the samples are ideal for general interest, collectors and educational use with specimens being available in three sizes and come supplied in a card tray with an information label.
We also supply Syenite thin sections for microscope study which are available to buy HERE.
