A selection of Coprolite beds found in the Kimmeridgian (Jurassic) beds of Abingdon in Oxfordshire, UK. Coprolites are the fossilised feces of ancient organisms. These droppings were deposited 157 to 152 M.Y.A.during the Jurassic period. Coprolites are classed as trace fossils; they are particularly important to science because they often provide us with information regarding the diet of ancient organisms which in turn helps us interpret their mode of life.
