Beryl is a mineral that has long been used as a gemstone for use in jewellery and ornaments. It is found mainily in granitic pegmatites, igneous rhyolite deposits as well as mica schists. Perfect exmaples will form with flat bases and an hexagonal crystal form. Usually, pure beryl is transparent and clear, however, most specimens have some form of colouration due to impurities. It is an associated mineral of tungsten and tin deposits often being found alongside or near them. Although many will know this mineral for its gemstone use, it is has a major industrial use as well, it is the main ore for beryllium and as such has a wide range of industrial use from mechanical objects to magnetics, nuclear properties and in the aerospace industry. these particular crystal specimens come from Evje, Southern Norway, they have a green to yellow colouration and lack any major lustre but do have a somewhat easily defined crystal habit. They are available in 3 sizes, supplied in a card tray with an information label.
