Copal is a younger variant of amber, scientifically known as Trachylobium Verrucosum it is the fossilised remains of tree resin, a sap which trees secret when damage to their bark or surface has been incured usually. Just like amber, this sap when secreted, is thick and viscous, as it runs down the tree, any particle and even small animals are caught, unable to break free, they are fossilised perefctly as the sap hardens. These particular specimens come from Cap D’Ambre, Madagascar, the age is dated between 2000 to 1 million years old, they are supplied with a plastic magnifier lens and may show occurences of plant debris, mosses, seeds and even insects. Available in two sizes, the samples will come supplied in a card tray with an information label.
