Our Acid Bottles are perfect for use out in the field or in a lab setting, they will protect your hands when applying corrosive substances to specimens as they utilise a dropper head, where you must squeeze the bottle to release the liquid inside. Each Bottle holds 25 ml of liquid and is clear, with a sticky label on the front and comes with a plug and leak proof cap to prevent any accidents. They are ideal for the testing of calcium carbonate in rocks, as these samples can often react to hydrochloric acid, causing the liquid to fizz and bubble up. It is important to note that acid is NOT supplied with the bottle, as this cannot be transported by post or courier.

A tungsten carbide scriber for geophysical testing of minerals, performing scratch tests in the field according to the Mohs scale of hardness. Tungsten carbide is at 9 on the mohs scale of hardness and so this scriber is more suitable for harder minerals. Knurling along the body gives users extra grip and the built in magnet will allow for magnetic testing of iron bearing material. The tip is reversible for safe storage and a pocket clip allows for placing in your shirt pocket or along a notebook.

An off white coloured streak plate made form porcelain, they are used by field geologists and students as a means of performing streak tests on minerals. This test simply involves one, scratching the surface of the tile with a particular rock or mineral, the coloured streak left behind then assists the user in determining the mineral, or minerals within a rock sample.
A small replacement bulb for our ultraviolet UV lamps. The bulb is a replacement for the shortwave cylindrical bulb at the front of the lamp and emits UV at 254nm.

nPlease note, these bulbs are powered up 4 watt bulbs, and have been made alongside our UV lamps to work with them. We cannot accept returns if you attempt to use the bulb in a UV product which you did not purchase from us.

Streak plates in a black colour made form porcelain, tough and ideal for performing streak tests, to asses minerals or mineral content of a rock sample, each plate is 45 x 45 mm in size and has a fine texture surface. Excellent for field geologists and earth science students.
An ideal tool for hardness testing during geological fieldwork, the steel-tipped scriber features a genuine steel point, making it well-suited for assessing minerals up to 5 on the Mohs hardness scale. The pointed tip can be easily retracted and reversed, ensuring safety during storage in your rucksack, pockets, or other compartments. With knurling along its body, it offers an excellent grip, while a clip on the opposite end allows for convenient attachment to shirt pockets, notebook edges, and more. Manufactured in the USA with American steel, this scriber weighs a mere 12 grams.
Specification:
– Length: 118 mm
– Stainless steel pivot clip
– Aluminium body
– Magnetic
The Geologist’s Pendulum Pencil Magnet serves as an excellent tool for conducting tests and determining magnetism in specimens. Crafted in the form of a pencil, complete with a pocket clip and a Neodymium Magnet tip, this device is designed to streamline the process.
Featuring a Stainless Steel spring wire clip positioned at the center, the “pencil” pivots around this central holder when the magnet is gripped or a line is attached to the pivot clip.
During the examination of a Core Sample, the Neodymium Magnet at the tip is drawn toward magnetic minerals within a rock specimen when brought into proximity, facilitating efficient analysis. The body is crafted from bright orange nylon, making it highly visible. Additionally, due to the lighter weight of the body compared to the steel magnetic pens (which can be found HERE), this makes even small instances of magnetic attraction observable. This pencil magnet measures 13 cm in length, and discounts are available for bulk purchases.
Glass tiles for determining a minerals place on the Mohs scale, scratched from hardness 6 and up. The tiles measure 50 x 50 x 3 mm and weighs approximately 27 grams.
