Angelite is a popular trade name for a variety of Anhydrite that is light blue-grey in colour, semi-transparent, fine grained and marketed as gem material. These specimens, along with most angelite, are from Lima, Peru and were collected near the Casapalca Mine at Casapalca, Huarochiri Province, Lima Department, Peru.
The Casapalca mineral deposits were initially mined to a limited extent by the Spaniards in the 1600s. Over the past century, they have served as a significant source of silver, copper, lead, and zinc. However, amidst these metal deposits, the presence of a unique variety of anhydrite known as “angelite” stands out. Surprisingly, “angelite” formation is unrelated to the metal minerals in the area.
Angelite was created when solutions rich in sulphate interacted with calcite in limestone, leading to the formation of massive anhydrite. This anhydrite possesses a striking blue colour due to trace amounts of divalent (ferrous) iron. These anhydrite formations took shape as nodules within altered limestone layers. Interestingly, when the surface of these anhydrite nodules came into contact with chemically neutral groundwater, they underwent rehydration and transformed into gypsum, resulting in a white coating on “angelite” specimens.
These specimens are ideal for both collectors and educational use, available in a range of sizes. They come supplied in a white card tray with an information label.

Anhydrite mineral specimens exhibiting a soft hardness and crystalline texture, the pieces vary in colour between pale grey and white and were collected from Cumbria, they are available in 3 sizes and come supplied in a card tray with a label. An evaporite mineral, it is closely related to other such mineral including gypsum, halite,calcite and others.
elenite pencils are exquisite and captivating mineral formations that showcase the natural beauty of selenite, a form of gypsum. They exhibit a pristine translucence that allows light to pass through, creating a mesmerising glow when held to the light. Each selenite pencil measures approximately 14cm in height and 4cm in width whilst being smooth and well weighted. This makes them easy to hold whilst remaining promenant enough to stand out as a decorative piece. They all feature a flat, hexagonal base, making them easy to stand on a range of surfaces. Since these items are made from 100% natural selenite, it is common to expect some slight variance between each specimen, whether that be in shape, size or the occasional scratch. Despite this, these selenite pencils would make a great addition to any room, adding some flair and elegance.

Massive Biotite Mica specimens, collected from Arendal, Norway. These specimens depict a “massive” crystal structure, as opposed to the more commonly seen sheets. Like all biotite mica, these specimens are dark in colour, exhibiting a dark grey to black hue. Mica is one of the most common mineral groups, with biotite being the most abundant member. Biotite is very common in igneous and metamorphic rocks, with the dark minerals in granites, pegmatites and gneiss often being due in some part to the presence of this black mica. This massive biotite are available in limited supply so we recommend you move fast if you wish to add a piece to your collection. Supplied in a white card tray with information label.

Augite andesite igneous rock specimens from Thirlmere, Cumbria, UK which are of late Ordovician age which form part of the Barrowdale volcanic group. The samples are of intermediate composition and contain phenocrysts of the pyroxene mineral, augite, giving the normally dark blue rock a black speckled appearance. The samples are available in 3 sizes and come supplied in a card tray with a label.

Specimens of Ironstone that have been collected from Breitung Mine, Marquette County, Negaunee, Michigan, USA. These specimens are a deep reddish brown in colour with some specimens exhibiting clear banding. Please note that banding is not visible on all pieces. These specimens are available in very limited supply with three sizes to choose from. They come supplied in a white card tray with information label.

Specimens of Baryte, collected from Dirtlow Rake, Castleton, Derbyshire, UK. Baryte is a widely occurring mineral, consisting of barium sulphate. It is very dense and can occur with many crystal habits. These specimens are available in multiple sizes and come in a white card tray with an information label.
Fluorite crystal bed specimens from Weardale, Co. Durham, UK. Available by weight, these mineral specimens are excellent as they exhibit the fluorite cubic crystal habit and the vast majority of specimens allow this to be viewed with the naked eye. Epidote is an abundant rock forming mineral that is most commonly green in colour. These specimens date from the Stenian period, approximetely 1 – 1.2 billion years ago.
