It is an abundant rock forming mineral that is most commonly green in colour. These specimens date from the Stenian period, approximetely 1 – 1.2 billion years ago. It forms from either hydrothermal or metamorphic origin, and is particularly common in metamorphosed basalts and gabbros. In those, circumstances, the epidote replaces the plagioclase, pyroxene and olivine. Epidote has no particular industrial uses but is still well liked by collectors due to its distinct green colouration. These specimens are available in limited supply, with two different size options. They come supplied in a white card tray with information label.
