Specimens of small sphalerite crystals with blue tarnished stibnite in matrix from Glendinning Mine, Ayrshire, Scotland. Sphalerite is a zinc sulfide mineral and the primary ore of zinc. Stibnite is a sulfide mineral with a dull grey colouration and metallic lustre. Being a sulfide mineral, it can be harmful if ingested. Caution is advised and this mineral is not for those under 18 years old. However, it does have modern day uses, it is the main ore of antimony, a metaloid element which is used in the manufacture of many items including brake pads, safety matches, flame retardants, lead products and more. Ideal specimens for collectors of British minerals, supplied in a white card tray with an information label.
*Remember to wash your hands immediately after handling stibnite. It is a sulfide mineral and is highly toxic. Upon purchase of this particular mineral specimen, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. This mineral is not suitable for children
