Apophyllite crystal beds, originating from India, boast exceptional quality with their remarkable crystal forms and clear transparent coloration. As a result, they are highly sought after by collectors. Interestingly, Apophyllites were initially considered a specific mineral, but in 1978, they were reclassified as a distinct class of minerals known as phyllosilicates. This class encompasses minerals and crystals with similar chemical compositions that form a solid solution series.
The name “apophyllite” finds its roots in the Greek term “apophylliso,” which means “it flakes off.” This name choice reflects the mineral’s tendency to flake apart when exposed to heat due to dehydration. Typically, Apophyllites are found as secondary minerals in the vesicles of volcanic rocks, especially basalt.
These mineral specimens are truly exceptional, meeting all expectations associated with this mineral group. They exhibit mostly clear and transparent features, with some pieces displaying a subtle green or pink hue. Collected from Pune (formerly Poona), India, renowned for its abundance of apophyllites and zeolites in close proximity, these specimens are available in three different sizes. They will be delivered in a card tray accompanied by an information label.

Quartz crystals from Madagascar, these mineral specimens are small in size, between 3 to 5 cm, as they are A grade, they are completely transparent, crystal clear show the excellent termination of the points and crytsal system. Ideally suited for university level educational use if large numbers are required for students to observe or for serious collectors.
Milky quartz mineral specimens from Norway, with a pale white colouration, hence the name, sometimes also known as white quartz, snow quartz or simply quartz. These particular samples were collected by staff from Iveland, Norway. This locality is also where we collected the smokey quartz from. It is in a massive form and has a very fine crystalline texture, this also results in it sometimes being sharp, so caution is advised when handling these samples. It is available in various sizes and supplied in a card tray with an information label.
Quartz crystals from Madagascar, these mineral specimens are large in sizes, between 10 to 15 cm, as they are B grade, they are not completely transparent, but cloudy and they still show the termination of the points and crytsal system. Ideally suited for educational use if large numbers are required for students to observe.
Smokey quartz is a dark variation of quartz, it is often translucent and a shade of black or grey however, some specimens may be completely opaque and black. The colour is due to free silicon at the time the quartz was forming, formed from silicon dioxide from natural radiation. These particular mineral specimens are of the individual crystal points and are of very high quality, they display the quartz crystals termination very well and exhibit a very dark grey sometimes black colouration with minimal transparency, almost opaque. The crystals come from Madagascar and come supplied in two different sizes, in a white card tray with information label. Please note that size variation is approximate, and will vary between pieces.
Stunning red quartz (Hematoide) over a calcite matrix collected from Jebel Saghro in Morocco. This unique variety of quartz owes its red colour to very fine hematite inclusions which have become incorporated into the quartz mass. Naturally the intensity of the red varies in these specimens dependent on the purity of the quartz; some samples exhibit a paler red while others exhibit a deep red colour. Available in two sizes, each specimen is supplied in a card tray with an information label.
Cleavelandite is a variety of the mineral albite, one of the constituent minerals of plagioclase feldspar, thus is found in areas where pegmatites and granites exists in certain localities around the world. These particular specimens come from Evje, in Southern Norway and as expected, has a pale green colouration to it. As with albite, cleavelandite also exhibits a triclinic crystal habit and has a hardness of 6- 7 on the Moh’s scale of hardness, it is usually found within cavities of other rocks or minerals. It as named in 1823 by Henry J. Brooke in honor of Parker Cleaveland , professor of geology and mineralogy at Bowdoin College in Maine. Our mineral specimens are massive in form with occasional accessory such as smokey quartz or plagioclase or orthoclase feldspar. The specimens were collected by our own staff from Evje and are available in a range of sizes. Each specimen is supplied in a labelled card tray.
Specular Hematite, also known as specularite is a variation of haematite which has a silver or black colouration and metallic lustre which gives the crystals a sparkling appearance. These particular specimens are of specularite crystals with an anhedral form on a massive haematite matrix. These specimens display veins of specularite within a matrix of massive haematite. They come from Cumbria, UK and are available in various sizes, each sample comes supplied in a card tray with an information label. They would be of particular interest to those who are particular keen on collecting British mineral specimens.
Rhodolite garnets in quartz and mica schist matrix from Southern Norway exhibiting bright vibrant pink coloured garnets in a white quartz and metallic grey mica schist with a start contrast of colours, these minerals specimens are available in 3 sizes and come supplied in a card tray with a label.
Orthocalse feldspar mineral specimens from Evje, Norway. It exhibits a pale pink, white or pale grey colouration with excellent cleavage planes with rhombic crystal forms, a common mineral found in granites and rhyolites, orthoclase belongs to the feldspar family of minerals and can be found all over the world. Specimens are available in various sizes and come supplied in a card tray with an information label.
Blue lace agate mineral specimens of moderate size which clearly exhibit alternating bands of blue and white, the specimens come from Botswana and are excellent grade with minimal matrix on them. Formed through volcanic processes and the deposition of silica compounds in igneous rocks, these minerals are both important educationally and calming to look at.

Chalcopyrite mineral specimens from Sulitjelma, Norway, a major copper ore mineral, these pieces exhibit excellent quality chalcopyrite detailing the shiny brassy yellow colouration and metallic lustre expected. Moss Agate mineral specimens from India, deep green in colour due to the presence of chrome and iron mineral impurities, this chalcedony mineral breaks with a conchoidal fracture, has a glassy texture and can have sharp edges, caution is advised. Baryte mineral specimens collected form Somerset in the UK, exhibiting a bladed crystal habit or massive form, the dense specimens are an off white, yellow or brown colour due to staining from hematite (iron ore), available in various sizes, ideal for educational use.
Desert rose mineral specimens composed from gypsum found in Tunisia, the samples are composed of numerous crystals which resemble ‘petals’ which are randomly orientated, thus giving them a rose flower effect.
