Daisy bed gypsum is another variation of the selenite crystal family. It is so called ‘daisy bed’ due to the radiating form the selenite crystals grow in, similar to that of flowers. These particular specimens come from Kirkby Thore, Cumbria, UK. Often prized by collectors due to the strange yet unique appearance of them, the allure of such these particular samples has risen significantly in recent years with the closing and prohibiting of collecting British minerals from former workings. Thus making daisy bed gypsum, like so many other British minerals, quite hard to come by.
