Holectypus depressus is an extinct species of echinoid which exhibits a notable circular shape and high profile when viewed from the size. They are a sandy yellow colour in general with these particular specimens exhibiting excellent visible morphological details such as the ambulacrum, as seen on the image. The samples we have on offer here were collected from Broadway in Gloucestershire, UK and were found in the Inferior oolite beds, dating back to the middle Jurassic period some 74 to 163 million years ago. A formation well known for its dinosaur fossils. The samples are 15 mm- 25 mm diameter and supplied in a 1inch mag box with label. Suitable for educational use due to the features, shape and form being easily visible or for collectors.
