Marble with forsterite which has been hydrated to serpentine. Found in Ledmore Quarry, Sutherland. Scottish Highlands. Specimens are supplied in a card tray with a information label.

Marble with forsterite is a metamorphic rock which is composed of the mineral forsterite,which is a magnesium silicate, the pure variety of olivine. If water gets in as the rock cools, it breaks down to serpentine, which gives the yellow-green colour. This marble is derived from the metamorphosed Durness Limestone. Ordovician-Cambrian.These specimens are supplied in a white card tray with a label.
