Selenite crystal specimens, a variety of gypsum from Oxford, UK, found in the Oxford clay, the crystals are transparent, have a pearly or vitreous lustre and appear as clusters of crystals. They are available in two sizes only and come supplied in card tray with a label. Suitable for educational use when explaining evaporite minerals or for collectors of British specimens.

Selenite is a variety of the mineral gypsum, it has a pearly lustre and is transluscent, letting most light through but not all. There particular crystals come from Oxford in the UK and were found in the Oxford clay. It is an evaporite mineral, left over when a saline solution present millions or years ago during the Jurassic period evoporated, leaving the selenite behind. The crystals form in cluster and are randomly orientated, but seem to be comprised of a large central crystal with smaller growths surrounding it. These mineral specimens are available in 2 sizes and come supplied in a card tray with an information label.

Pyromorphite crytsals on a baryte matrix mineral specimens from Caldbeck Fells, Cumbria. The crystals are globular in formation with a dull green colour which is in contrast to the yellow or pink baryte matrix. Pyrrhotite mineral specimens from Evje, southern Norway, the samples are grey in colour and and have a metallic lustre which is very shiny when a fresh surface is exposed, however, these surfaces dull very quickly upon exposure to the air. Noticiably magnetic like magnetite, this iron sulphide mineral is fairly dense, was collected by staff from Norway and is available in a small size only. Supplied in a 2″ x 2″ card tray with a label.
