Tektites are terestrial glassy fragments of various sizes and shapes which form due to extraterestrial means. They come about due to the impact of a meteorite, when a meteorite eventually hits the ground, it is super heated from its travel and speed and impacts with such force the the ground and immediate area around it shatters and the rocks it hits alters. This alteration creates textites, these particular samples were collected rom Thailand and have what is known as an irregular tear drop shape (a not perfect tear shape) which is pitted and has a dull lustre and black colouration. Radiometric dating gives an approximate age of 700,000 years old for these specimens, each piece is between 10- to 20 mm in size and comes supplied in a polythene bag with a label.
