Moss Agate mineral specimens which are completely deep green in colour with some occurrences of blue and white. It has no banding formations, it is related to chalcedony, which is also within the quartz family of minerals. The colouration comes form green coloured minerals within, which are impurities such as chrome and iron. It’s name is derived from how the majority of it is usually found as inclusions in white quartz, almost resembling moss on a stone. It often forms as a result of weathered volcanic rocks, these particular specimens come from India, they are almost completely green in colour although some have occurrences of white and blue. It has been used through out history as a gemstone due to the fact that it can be cut and shaped and takes a high polish, a common tumble stone and used in jewellery. Our specimens are available in 3 sizes and come supplied in a card tray with an information label.

Specimens of Moss Agate, collected from India. Moss Agate is a silicate mineral with a deep green colouration, but can sometimes have inclusions of white, blue or red. It is not strictly an agate but more closely related to chalcedony. Specimens come in lots of 1kg, in a heavy duty polythene bag. Pieces come in various sizes.

They typically form in semi arid (dry) climates, where saline water evaporates, which leaves behind cubic salt crystals. Desert rose mineral specimens composed from gypsum found in Tunisia, the samples are composed of numerous crystals which resemble ‘petals’ which are randomly orientated, thus giving them a rose flower effect. Milky quartz mineral specimens from Norway, with a pale white colouration, hence the name, sometimes also known as white quartz, snow quartz or simply quartz. These particular samples were collected by staff from Iveland, Norway. This locality is also where we collected the smokey quartz from. It is in a massive form and has a very fine crystalline texture, this also results in it sometimes being sharp, so caution is advised when handling these samples. It is available in various sizes and supplied in a card tray with an information label.
