Specimens of Rapakivi Granite sourced from South Finland, which have undergone cutting and polishing. This particular rock belongs to the Granite family, and shares the typical characteristics of granite. Those being a coarse-grained, plutonic igneous rock, consisting of orthoclase feldspar, quartz, and biotite mica.

What distinguishes Rapakivi from other granites is its higher hornblende composition and a rim of oligioclase (a variety of plagioclase) surrounding the large orthoclase phenocrysts. Notably, the orthoclase feldspar in Rapakivi Granite tends to form in an orbicular shape, lending it a distinctive appearance.

Rapakivi, although relatively uncommon compared to other granites, occurs in locations such as North and South America, southern Greenland, southern Africa, India, China, and Finland.

Our Rapakivi Granite specimens have been cut and polished to achieve a glossy finish, and are available in four sizes. Each piece comes packaged in a white card tray accompanied by an information label.
