Specimens of Chrome Diopside in a Calcite and Tremolite matrix found in Mo i Rana, Norway. The Chrome Diopside is easily identified as the bright green crystaliine mineral, which is embedded within the pale white Calcite and Tremolite matrix. Tremolite is a white (sometimes grey) amphibole mineral which is often found within igneous rocks but is also characteristic of many metamorphosed dolomites & limestone. In this case it also accounts for the presence of Calcite within the matrix as well. Specimens are supplied in a white card tray and come with a information label.

Dunite igneous rock specimens from the Gusdal olivine pit in Åheim, southern Norway. Composed of green olivine minerals with chromite and pyroxene crystals, the rock forms as intrusive igneous plutons in the earth mantle down to 400 km deep and displays a coarse texture and green colouration. Overall, the samples are fairly granular and weak due to their chemistry and form part of the basal gneiss complex of southern Norway. Ideal for various levels of collectors and for higher level education and research use, the samples are available in three sizes and come supplied in a card tray with an information label.
We also supply Dunite thin sections for microscope study which are available to buy HERE.
Garnet peridotite igneous rock specimens found in the Gusdal Olivine Pit, Åheim, Norway is an ultra mafic rock which contains high pressure and temperature minerals such as olivine and garnet crystals. Exhibiting a green colouraiton with striking red spots, these samples were pushed up to the earths crust during the Caledonian orogeny during the Ordovician and Devonian period over 400 million years ago. The specimens are dense as expected and are ideal for children and serious collectors because of the colourful appearance as well as for higher educational use to describe deep mantle material as well as orogenic processes. The hand samples are available in various sizes and come supplied in a card tray with an information label.
We also supply Garnet Peridotite thin sections for microscope study which are available to buy HERE.

Chromite mineral specimens from Feragen chromium mines, Feragen, Røros, Sør-Trøndelag, Norway. Specimens are found along side many dunitic rocks as expected of this site, they are black in colour and fairly dense, available in a range of sizes, each supplied in a labelled card tray.
Olivine mineral specimens from Åheim, Norway, samples vary from granular to crystalline but all exhibit a bright olive green colouration. Collected by staff, olivine is a subsurface mineral which is unstable at the surface and weathers easily, making it rare. It may also contain the gemstone, peridot as well as kammererite. Available in various sizes and supplied in a card tray with an information label.
Magnesite mineral specimens from Greece, the samples are an off white colour and exhibit a somewhat botryoidal texture, formed around ultramafic rocks and metamorphic zones, these specimens are limited and will come supplied in a card tray with a data label.
Sulphur mineral specimens (also spelt sulfur) from Bolivia, these fine crystalline masses give off a pungent odour as expected of this mineral and have a pale yellow colouration to them. They formed in volcanic zones and are excellent for the more serious collector. Available in one size only and supplied in a card tray with a data label.

Massive specular hematite from Brazil, black colouration and metallic lustre which gives the crystals a sparkling appearance. Iceland spar is a clear variation of calcite, it exhibits the rhombic crystal system of calcite perfectly, the crystals easily divide into rhombs, making them well sought after for a variety of reasons. Originally reported from Helgustadir Mine, Eskifjord, Iceland, hence its name. One of the most remarkable aspect of Iceland spar is its refractive properties. When light passes through one of the crystals, it is divided into two rays at different angles which results in a double refraction effect. Essentially, anything seen though the crystal is seen in double. This can best be seen if you place the calcite over some text, it will appear as if it has been printed twice. These mineral samples come from Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico and are available in 2 sizes: Upto 1″ and Over 1″. They come in a card tray with an information label.
Orthocalse feldspar mineral specimens from Evje, Norway. It exhibits a pale pink, white or pale grey colouration with excellent cleavage planes with rhombic crystal forms, a common mineral found in granites and rhyolites, orthoclase belongs to the feldspar family of minerals and can be found all over the world. Specimens are available in various sizes and come supplied in a card tray with an information label.
Baryte mineral specimens, unusual samples collected from Foss mine in Scotland, they have a fine crystalline texture instead and are quite robust specimens. Milky quartz mineral specimens from Norway, with a pale white colouration, hence the name, sometimes also known as white quartz, snow quartz or simply quartz. These particular samples were collected by staff from Iveland, Norway. This locality is also where we collected the smokey quartz from. It is in a massive form and has a very fine crystalline texture, this also results in it sometimes being sharp, so caution is advised when handling these samples. It is available in various sizes and supplied in a card tray with an information label.
