The Swing Magnetic Pen, manufactured in the shape of a pencil with a pocket clip and a built in Neodymium Magnet tip.
A Stainless Steel spring wire clip is located at the centre. The swing magnet pivots on the centre hold when you or attach a line to the pivot clip or hold the magnet.
The Neodymium Magnet located at the tip exhibits an attraction to magnetic minerals present within a nearby rock specimen. Consequently, it demonstrates a response when moved over a core sample or mineral specimen. The position of the pocket clip is modifiable to alter the balance angle as needed. The pen’s body is crafted from aluminium. As such, the pen is very light but robust.
– Length: 118 mm
– Stainless steel pivot clip
– Aluminium body
The Swing Magnetic Pen is a great tool for geologists due to its light, robust design, pivot clip and ease of use.

The Ruper hand lens is a renowned magnifier loupe favored by professionals and long-time enthusiasts across various industries. This specific jewelry loupe provides 10x magnification along with a spacious 20mm viewing field, helping reduce eye strain. It also allows users to examine a wide area at once. This Ruper model delivers exceptional clarity in vision thanks to its doublet design with aplantic optics. This means it utilises a combination of concave and convex optical glass to minimize the effects of spherical aberrations.
It’s worth emphasising that Ruper lenses are indeed doublets, despite common misconceptions and sellers’ claims of them being triplets. Their crafting process uses exclusively two optical lenses and a spacer. The lens comes in a stainless steel body with a chrome finish, displaying the ‘Ruper’ name on one side. Another premium magnifier and loupe from this esteemed Japanese brand, it proves invaluable for professionals and enthusiasts in fields like geology, crystallography, and sedimentology for enhanced viewing of rocks, minerals, fossils, and crystals. Additionally, it aids in botanical observations, entomological studies for detailed insect examination, as well as jewelry-making, faceting, and gemstone scrutiny, among other applications where magnification is essential. It comes with a faux leather case. Made in Japan.
Introducing the GEO Premier, an authentic triplet hand lens crafted from top-grade triplet optical glass. It features three distinct layers of glass and provides a 10x magnification with 20.5 mm viewing field. This ensures a comprehensive view of a sample’s specific area. Housed in sturdy metal, it is built to withstand rugged field use, capable of enduring bumps and drops. The hexagonal shape enhances grip and handling, especially in damp conditions. Additionally, one end of the magnifier features a bar and metal loop for attaching a lanyard or thread (not included). The hand lens includes a leather case and stands as an outstanding tool suitable for both students and professionals alike.

An ideal tool for hardness testing during geological fieldwork, the steel-tipped scriber features a genuine steel point, making it well-suited for assessing minerals up to 5 on the Mohs hardness scale. The pointed tip can be easily retracted and reversed, ensuring safety during storage in your rucksack, pockets, or other compartments. With knurling along its body, it offers an excellent grip, while a clip on the opposite end allows for convenient attachment to shirt pockets, notebook edges, and more. The Geologist’s Pendulum Pencil Magnet serves as an excellent tool for conducting tests and determining magnetism in specimens. Crafted in the form of a pencil, complete with a pocket clip and a Neodymium Magnet tip, this device is designed to streamline the process.
Featuring a Stainless Steel spring wire clip positioned at the center, the “pencil” pivots around this central holder when the magnet is gripped or a line is attached to the pivot clip.
During the examination of a Core Sample, the Neodymium Magnet at the tip is drawn toward magnetic minerals within a rock specimen when brought into proximity, facilitating efficient analysis. The body is crafted from bright orange nylon, making it highly visible. Additionally, due to the lighter weight of the body compared to the steel magnetic pens (which can be found HERE), this makes even small instances of magnetic attraction observable. This pencil magnet measures 13 cm in length, and discounts are available for bulk purchases.
