Agglomerate igneous rock specimens from Scotland, UK. A coarse grained, hard blocky rock exhibiting a conglomeration of various minerals and igneous material of volcanic origin. These samples formed part of the Glen Coe caldera and are apart of the upper streaky andesite unit, the exhibit poor sorting and orientation of material which indicates a somewhat violent origin but this can vary from agglomerates by location and is mainly down to the chemistry of the igneous material. The samples are available in 3 sizes and come supplied in a card tray with a label, they are suitable for educational use to show the different types of volcanic rocks produced as well as those interested in collecting rock samples.

Agglomerate is a volcanic rock, sometimes referred to as a pyroclastic rock and is composed of various large sized pieces of volcanic material which can vary depending on the type of volcanic chemistry which produced them. The material is classified as such, when the composition of the rock is at least 75% volcanic bombs, these inclusions will often have a ropy, ragged or ovoid shape as inclusions in the main body of the material. The rock, as expected, is often found in and around volcanic vents and appear to look like breccias of volcanic origin, due to the processes in which they form, agglomerates usually exhibit poor sorting of clasts, with sizes and orientations being random, they will also contain various pieces of igneous rocks embedded within an ash or tuff matrix. As such, they are best described as having a coarse texture and are often fairly hard rocks. These particular specimens belong to the Upper streaky andesite series and come from Scotland, UK and are suitable for collectors or higher level education use to further explain various forms of volcanic activity and material. The samples are available in various sizes, each rock specimen will come supplied in a card tray with an information label.

Accretionary lapilli tuff is an igneous pyroclastic rock, these samples come from Longsleddle, Cumbria in the UK and forms when hot ash and debris is ejected from as volcano. Some of this material is held together by moisture and once heavy enough, falls into the ash below forming small ‘spots’ within the material, creating a speckled rock. The samples are suitable both for young and serious collectors as well as educational use and are supplied in various sizes with a card tray and label.

Augite granophyre igneous rock specimens from Carrockfell, Keswick in Cumbria, UK. Excellent pieces exhibiting a medium grain size of crystals which constitute this rock including, augite, quartz and feldspars and shows a granophyric texture. Suitable for avid collectors and higher educational use, the samples come supplied in a sized card tray with an information label.

Specimens of Rapakivi Granite sourced from South Finland, which have undergone cutting and polishing. This particular rock belongs to the Granite family, and shares the typical characteristics of granite. Those being a coarse-grained, plutonic igneous rock, consisting of orthoclase feldspar, quartz, and biotite mica. Each piece comes packaged in a white card tray accompanied by an information label.
Garnet peridotite igneous rock specimens found in the Gusdal Olivine Pit, Åheim, Norway is an ultra mafic rock which contains high pressure and temperature minerals such as olivine and garnet crystals. Exhibiting a green colouraiton with striking red spots, these samples were pushed up to the earths crust during the Caledonian orogeny during the Ordovician and Devonian period over 400 million years ago. The specimens are dense as expected and are ideal for children and serious collectors because of the colourful appearance as well as for higher educational use to describe deep mantle material as well as orogenic processes. The hand samples are available in various sizes and come supplied in a card tray with an information label.
We also supply Garnet Peridotite thin sections for microscope study which are available to buy HERE.

Specimens of Chrome Diopside that were collected from the Gusdal Olivine Pit, Åheim, Norway. These samples are best described as chrome bearing diopside. Diopside, a vivid green pyroxene mineral, features streaks of grey chromite that creates a stunning mineral sample that would be the perfect addition to any collection. Whilst many samples of chrome diopside tend to be crystalline in nature, our samples are unique as the feature a grainier, more crumbly texture. These specimens are in limited availability, so we recommend you move fast if you wish to add these stunning specimens to your collection. They are available in a range of sizes and come supplied in a white card tray with information label.
The metamorphic rock texture card is made for earth science students, it displays numerous bites of information on how to determine an metamorphic rock specimen found in the field via their observable features. The cards have been laminated, making them waterproof, small, the size of a bank card and an excellent to hand guide for students, amateurs and professionals.
Dunite igneous rock specimens from the Gusdal olivine pit in Åheim, southern Norway. Composed of green olivine minerals with chromite and pyroxene crystals, the rock forms as intrusive igneous plutons in the earth mantle down to 400 km deep and displays a coarse texture and green colouration. Overall, the samples are fairly granular and weak due to their chemistry and form part of the basal gneiss complex of southern Norway. Ideal for various levels of collectors and for higher level education and research use, the samples are available in three sizes and come supplied in a card tray with an information label.
We also supply Dunite thin sections for microscope study which are available to buy HERE.
German Eclogite specimens from Weissenstein, Bavaria. Eclogite is a metamorphic rock, featuring red garnets within a matrix of sodium rich plagioclase called omphacite. These samples are perfect for both collectors and for educational use. They come supplied in a white card tray with an information label. Limited stock available.
Introducing an outstanding triplet hand lens with a remarkable x 10 magnification and a wide 21 mm viewing field. This loupe enables detailed examination of specific areas within a sample. Crafted using three precision-ground glass elements (triplet optics), it delivers exceptionally clear vision. Additionally, this model features both LED and UV lighting options, making it an ideal tool for geologists and entomologists. In particular, for ex the fluorescent properties of minerals, crystals, and insects.
The lighting system consists of a ring of six bright white LEDs that enhance the visibility of your chosen sample. The single UV LED emits longwave fluorescence, causing many materials to emit a glowing effect in the dark.
Encased in durable plastic housing that seamlessly integrates with a stainless steel body, this loupe is powered by three LR297 button batteries (included). It comes with a key for easy battery replacement, and a leather case for added convenience. This versatile lens is an indispensable tool across various professions including geology, sedimentology, mineralogy, entomology, botany, jewelry making, gem cutting, and more

An off white coloured streak plate made form porcelain, they are used by field geologists and students as a means of performing streak tests on minerals. This test simply involves one, scratching the surface of the tile with a particular rock or mineral, the coloured streak left behind then assists the user in determining the mineral, or minerals within a rock sample.
Specimens of Flint, collected from South Devon in the UK. Flint, a variety of Chert, is a micro crystalline, sedimentary rock. It is part of the silicate family and has a conchoidal fracture. These specimens display a monochromatic black interior, offset by a distinct white exterior. These specimens are available in various sizes and come in a white card tray with an information label.
A ten specimen metamorphic rock set produced by our selves at our warehouse in the UK, the set comprises of ten samples picked out to details textures and features such as foliation, banding, high temperature or pressure minerals and more pertaining to the various grades of metamorphism.
