Hildoceras are a genus of ammonites which are defined by their narrow shells and two central grooved down the middle of the shells, they were named by Alpheus Hyatt after the famous saint, Saint Hilda of Whitby, who according to legend turned a plague of snakes into stone, thus explaining the presence of numerous ammonite fossils along the shores in the Whitby area. These specimens are of fairly good quality with morphological features being clearly seen even with the naked eye. We can offer hildoceras ammonites in various sizes to choose from, each will come supplied in a card tray with an information label.
