Orthoclase feldspar is a well known mineral and a common constituent found in many igneous rocks. It has two cleavage planes, which are at right angles to one another, resulting in the crystals breaking into rhombic forms and is the reason for its naming, being derived form the ancient Greek wording for “straight fracture.” It is often pink in colour but can be white or pale grey. It is fairly hard at 6 – 6.5 on the Moh’s scale of hardness and has a vitreous lustre, which means it shines or reflects light. Orthoclase is commonly found in many granitic rocks, being one of the main constituent minerals, the other two being quartz and mica. It is also common in felsic rocks such as rhyolite. These specimens are supplied by weight, upto 1 kilograms and come supplied in a polythene bag with an information label, the sizes of the pieces inside vary between 20 mm to 80 mm.

Specimens of Calcite Rhombs, collected from Morocco. Calcite is a common mineral with various forms and colours. It is most recognisable by its low Mohs hardness of 3, and its high reactivity with even weak acids. These specimens come in lots of 1kg, in a heavy duty polythene bag. Pieces come in various sizes.
Specimens of Magnetite, collected from Norway. Magnetite is a major iron ore, with a dark grey to black colouration. Magnetite is also one of the most magnetic of the iron minerals, and as expected it is also highly dense. These specimens come in lots of 1kg, in a heavy duty polythene bag. Pieces come in various sizes.
Specimens of Amethyst, collected from Brazil. Amethyst is a popular mineral, and variation of quartz with a distinctive purple colouration due to the presence of impurities during formation. These specimens come in lots of 1kg, in a heavy duty polythene bag. Pieces come in various sizes.

Specimens of Aragonite Sputnik, collected from Morocco. These specimens exhibit the excellent twinned crystal habit where the crystals radiate outwards. These specimens come in lots of 250g, in a polythene bag. Pieces are of various sizes.
Specimens of Milky Quartz, collected from Norway. This mineral has a variety of names, including white quartz, snow quartz and milky quartz. This is due to its translucent to opaque white colouration. These specimens come in lots of 1kg, in a heavy duty polythene bag. Pieces come in various sizes.
1 kilogram of purple quartz mineral specimens from Morroco, the crystal beds exhibit quartz crystal points in beds on agate or chalcedony, the colour is a hue of purple, but faded. Sizes of samples supplied in the pack vary between 20 mm to 60 mm and come in a polythene bag with an data card. Suitable for craft use, schools and more where more pieces are required.
Specimens of Pyrite, collected from Norway. Pyrite is an iron ore mineral, however due to its brassy yellow colour, many early prospectors would mistake it for gold. This gave it the name, ‘Fools Gold’. These pieces display a massive crystalline form. These specimens come in lots of 1kg, in a heavy duty polythene bag. Pieces come in various sizes.
