The COSTU geological compass proves its versatility in a variety of simple geological surveys. Its robust casing, crafted from die-cast non-magnetic light metal, guarantees the compass needle’s accuracy remains unaffected. The compass boasts practical features, including a graduated drawing edge measuring 110 mm, a hinged mirror made of chromed brass for effortless observation of the compass needle, and an open sight with rear and front sights, spanning 11 cm.
The compass dial itself, akin to most compasses, offers transparency and rotatability. It features a liquid-filled capsule to ensure smooth needle rotation. The dial, constructed from non-breakable makrolon with liquid damping, allows for reliable readings. It displays inverted East and West markings, along with counterclockwise numbering graduations of 5° (5g) encompassing the full 0° to 360° range.
Incorporated within the compass lid is a gravity-operated pendulum clinometer, equipped with graduations of +/- 90° to measure vertical angles accurately. The lid also includes a round level to enhance precision. For comfortable usage, a thumb ring is thoughtfully provided.
Manufactured by renowned specialists Breithaupt Kassel in Germany, the COSTU geological compass delivers unwavering accuracy and durability in any environment. It is accompanied by a leather case, ensuring convenient storage and transportation.
